Week1: 363 George Street

Week 1: Tutorials

This is just an image capture of the completed model from the first tutorial.
This was from using the section view tool to get a half section view of the object, allowing us to see inbetween and also through the object.
This is a completed model of the hammer head using the flex tool. The tool was kind of annoying to use following the tutorial because there was a need to click the blue orb in the middle and was hard to click with three planes and also the vertexes of the hammer itself.
Something that I found useful when starting up the program was actually to right click on the toolbar which brought a drop down menu of which toolbars you would want to add and use.
The other useful thing to take note of is from that drop down menu you can click "customize..." and then the Commands tab which then you click the sub menu's of the toolbars and you can click and drag additional buttons to use.
This is an image of the candlestick when I was sweeping the handle. The end loop was not working so well at this point.
I found it more comfortable working in quad view. This is the final look of the candle stick with the cutout made as well as the proper looking handle.
This is just a screen shot to show how to get to quad view. The place to find that actual button can be seen underlined in red in previous picture.

The Barrel Explosion

That was the clip of the explosion happening in slow motion. You might be wondering why and how do the barrels actually bend like that before it explodes. That is very simple thing and I shall explain using the image below

In the left side view I purposely went over the roping with red. If you open up the image and look at the front view it should be visible. Though you might be thinking what can rope do it doesn't really still make sense does it. Well that's where the weld tool comes in and the base has been welded together. I also used the stacker tool with the weld option enabled to stack them upwards and thus I created this effect.

Well how does this relate to porosity you might think. Well, since they are welded together you could consider each column as a particle and through the impact of the rocket, it spreads out, but then the welding is a force of attraction in which they want to go back to their original form, but then they explode in which after a strong pulling inward force had been applied, a greater outward force is then applied thus creating an explosion where the particles fly everywhere. In addition, each barrel is giving it's own explosion which also causes a chain reaction with the other barrels and thus all the barrels should explode. In shorter terms I guess, it is like my medium explosion but on a larger scale and there is a greater force being given out.

Used foootage from 02:22 to 02:26

Battlefield 2142 is an Electronics Arts and Dice game

The first scene will be my main focus with the mirroring of the clip.
The final scene is the C4 scene and this was shown in the mirror clip from week 1

The video was edited together using Sony Vegas.

In relation to porosity, this can be seen through how there is that shield barrier which can be seen as a medium in destroying the bullets being fired. Though the main part of porosity being shown is the massive explosion being shown in the second scene. This is because as the ship is exploding, sparks are flying around and each spark is a particle in which when they all explode and fly out at the same time a blanketing white light is given off, which is practicle light particles dispersing due to the explosion.

The Custom Machinima

The main purpose of this clip is the mirroring of the 3 explosions in my found machinima clip. Since there are 3 explosions I'm treating the first one as a small explosion and then the next one a medium one and the last a large one and hopefully the notion of porosity can be seen through the particles that get exploded out. This can be seen firstly through the balloons then the stack of people holding RPG's and then the exploding barrels.

The porosity of the balloons explosion is at the very end when you see the flakes of the balloons that exploded. The porosity in this part is more of a horizontal and downward motion. The people one is a bit odd but you can treat the person particle (A) and the RPG particle (B). They way they look right now is that (A) and (B) are currently joined but once they get blown up by the grenade they are separated and create both a vertical and horizontal explosion. I will explain the barrel explosion in my next post.

Week 2: Composite Video

This is done using three different weapons to make an explosion in GMOD. I wanted to see which would have a better visual effect as well as sound effect. There isn't captions and much going on as I wasn't to use to Vegas at the time.

Week 1: Ending Mirror

Mirroring the effect of the C4 explosion at the end of my original found clip.

I nearly forgot about this clip and here it is. Did the credit roll at the end with Vegas.

This is a video that I did during the last week since blogger doesn't let you shift your posts around, i decided to just throw this video here. It's to express the notion of what it would be like to not see what sort of explosion is happening when all you can see is a wall.

Please ignore the ending, I was sort of bored and shot the RPG into the wall and killed myself, but it seems like it was a delayed explosion that comes out of nowhere and killed me. This can be deduced because I was only facing the wall and had limited vision and no idea what was happening.

Though, from this you can see that even if you saw the rocket hit the barrel, there is no idea of what was below that barrel and what those after explosions where. Though from my above explanation of me killing myself, I conclude that hiding and having limited vision is worse than seeing what is happening around you.

Week 1: GMOD Mirror Explosion

I always have problems with youtube in uploading short clips for some reason so this video is uploaded with blogger.

Week1: Machinima Explosion

Youtube-->Battlefield 2142 vehicle assault
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wmAU_v53xA

This is a video of a futuristic set war. The main explosions come from the form of the vehicles (Tank and walker) shooting each other and then exploding. There is also an explosion of the tank being blown up from a C4. The final explosions shows us that we cannot see everything that happens when we are in a concealed space and limited vision. The actual explosions start at around 00:40 and end of clip.
